Fencing in Orenco

Cedar pickets for nursery-era cottages, clean panels and alley gates for the Station blocks, all built to fit lots where every foot counts.

The Oregon Nursery Company platted this townsite in 1905 and named the east-west streets after trees, Alder through Fir in alphabetical order. Ninety years later the new-urbanist district went up around the MAX platform, with small lots, rear alleys, and design review. Two housing eras, one thing in common: not much room for error. We build fences and gates for both, we are licensed in Oregon and Washington, and every estimate is free.

Picket Lines for the 1905 Townsite

On the cottage streets between Alder and Fir, most houses carry original porch trim, and a fence should not fight it. We build square-top cedar pickets with flat caps that read right against hundred-year-old siding, set at heights that keep the front yard open the way these blocks have always looked. Lots here run small, so we lay out corners with the neighbor's line in mind and confirm pins before an auger touches dirt. Where an old fence leans, we salvage what still has life, usually rails and the odd gate hinge, and replace posts that rotted at grade. You get a fence that looks like it grew up with the house.

Alley Gates and Park-Edge Cedar

The newer blocks near the light rail stop were designed with rear alleys, which makes gate hardware matter more than it does on a wide suburban lot. We hang gates that swing clear of trash carts and latch one-handed when you are carrying groceries in from the garage. Hillsboro's design standards for this district favor low, open fencing along the street, and we will tell you what passes review before you spend a dime. Backyards along Orenco Woods Nature Park sit in Rock Creek shade, damp most of the year, so we spec a rot board and gravel at the post base there. Call (503) 555-0187 and we will walk your lines with you.

We cover the rest of the city too: see our Hillsboro fence company page for services, permit rules and the neighborhoods around you.
